About this guide

This site explains how unemployment insurance works in Indiana and links the page on DWD's own site where each step is taken. It is independent of the Department of Workforce Development and of every agency it points to.

The guides cover filing a claim in Uplink, who qualifies, what a claim pays, and how long it lasts. They also cover the weekly voucher and the work search behind it, denials, appeals, and overpayments, tax on benefits, WorkOne Centers and the lines that answer claim questions, disability benefits, and looking for work while you claim.

Every figure, deadline, phone number, and link to a government page here is checked against the official page it came from, whether that page belongs to DWD, to another Indiana agency, to the IRS, or to Social Security, and each guide shows the date of that check at the foot. Where DWD has published an answer itself, the guide uses its words and sends you to it, and its Unemployment Insurance FAQ is the fullest of those pages. Links to job boards are not official sources and are not checked that way.

What this guide cannot do is see your claim, change anything on it, or tell you whether you qualify. Those belong to DWD, which decides every Indiana claim and posts its determinations on your Uplink homepage. Nothing here is legal advice either.
