How do you look for work in Indiana while you are claiming benefits?

Indiana Career Connect does double duty. It is the state job bank, and it is the case-management site WorkOne staff work from, so a career advisor works from the same record you do.

Indiana Career Connect, the state job bank

The site gives you a resume builder and a dashboard of current vacancies across Indiana. You can also browse listings nationwide, federal and state government jobs among them, and contact a WorkOne Center to apply.

State government hires as well: about 30,000 people work for the State of Indiana, and you can apply for those jobs directly.

Help from a WorkOne career advisor

WorkOne's support pages are sorted by who is asking, with resources for veterans, job seekers with disabilities, unemployed individuals, people without a high school diploma, young adults, migrant farm workers, workers affected by foreign trade, and seniors.

Job fairs are the other side of that help, a chance to meet employers and hear about openings in your area. Advisors work out of the centers listed on Indiana's WorkOne offices and phone numbers, which also carries the line to call about a claim.

Training while you are still claiming

RESEA, DWD's Reemployment Services and Eligibility Assessment program, prioritizes claimants identified as most likely to exhaust their benefits before they are back at work. It can also connect a claimant with the WorkOne organizations that handle eligibility for possible short-term training or a certification that leads to better job opportunities. Claimants selected for RESEA must take part in every appointment and activity, or their unemployment benefits stop.
